Work with Attached and Vertical Planes

Purpose

To easily select and cut planes. This is most commonly used with planes located on short walls.

Note that although this topic only describes roof plane cutting, use the same procedure for cutting ceiling planes. The only difference is that you use the Plane-C (Cut Planes - Ceiling) command.

Prerequisites

An existing wall or work line

Steps

 

To toggle attached and vertical planes on and off:

  1. Open a layout and select the plane.
  2. From the Planes menu select Cut Planes - Roof or click .

    The following prompt displays:

  1. Select the plane to cut.

The following prompt displays:

  1. From the Planes menu select Vertical Planes or click . Vertical planes are now turned off. Use the Attached Planes feature in the same way; click to turn this feature off or on.
  1. Select a plane to cut against. It does not matter how close to the wall or work line you select since vertical planes have been turned off and only attached planes can be selected.

The selected wall/work line is highlighted and a dashed red line is displayed at the plane intersection.

  1. Continue selecting intersecting planes, as desired.
  2. Right-click to accept your changes.
